Common Questions about Giving
What
is the Barrack Hebrew Academy Annual Fund?
The Barrack Hebrew Academy Annual Fund directly supports faculty and
students, ongoing technology and facilities needs as
well as other academy priorities. The Barrack Hebrew Academy Annual Fund
offers alumni, parents and friends of Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy
a special opportunity to support the highest current
priorities of the academy through their annual unrestricted
giving.
Doesn’t tuition cover these items?
Even full tuition pays for only about 75% of the actual
cost of educating a student. The financial model that
underpins the school’s operation depends on four
principal sources of revenue: tuition and fees, Federation
and Foundation grants, endowment income and the philanthropy
of parents, alumni and friends. Your annual support
is a vital component of that financial equation.
Barrack Hebrew Academy has an endowment; why not use that instead?
The income from the Barrack Hebrew Academy Endowment
Fund is one of the principal sources of funding
for the school and is used every year to support campus
priorities. However, much of that income is restricted
to certain purposes and cannot replace unrestricted
current dollars so necessary for day-to-day operating
expenses.
What is our goal for Fiscal Year 2007?
The overall Barrack Hebrew Academy Annual Fund goal is to raise $425,000
by August 15, 2007. In order to meet this goal, Barrack Hebrew Academy
depends on continuing annual support from parents, alumni
and friends.
Will my gift make a difference?
Absolutely! Every tax-deductible gift makes a difference
to the school. It also sends a powerful message that
you believe in this institution and its educational
program, and it has made a difference in your life.
Foundations considering an investment in Barrack Hebrew Academy often
inquire about parent and alumni enthusiasm and commitment.
With our goal of 100% parent participaton in the Annual
Fund, Barrack Hebrew Academy can make a powerful case to these prospective
funding sources.
How does the Barrack Hebrew Academy Annual Fund conduct solicitations?
At Barrack Hebrew Academy we strive to speak to every one of our parents
about their role and commitment to the Annual Fund.
We do this in varied ways -- educational programs
at parents' homes, peer-to-peer conversations or through
events and programs. Throughout the year we call
and correspond with families, alumni and friends we
cannot reach through personal contact. We conduct
the Annual Campaign from September through June and
request that all pledges are met by August 31st.
Where does a gift to the Annual Fund go?
The Annual Fund’s unrestricted dollars are used
immediately during the current fiscal year and benefit
the current students.
Can I match my gift?
Many companies will match your contribution as an employee/spouse,
thereby doubling your gift to Barrack Hebrew Academy. Check with your
human resources office for the correct form.
How do we make a gift?
Make your check payable to Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy. Visa
and MasterCard charges and gifts of securities are welcome.
