Barrack Hebrew Academy Hosts Grandparents/Grandfriends Day
Bryn Mawr, PA (November 17, 2008): Over 100 grandparents and “grandfriends” headed back
to school at Barrack Hebrew Academy on November 7th where they were greeted by Dr. Steven M. Brown, Head of School. They then joined their student hosts who took their special guests to classes and treated them to lunch in the new dining commons. (Read more)

Barrack Hebrew Academy Announces Merit Scholars
Bryn Mawr, PA (October 7, 2008): Fourteen members of Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy's senior class were named National Merit Scholars. They represent 25% of the class and were among the 50,000 high scorers nationwide, ranking among the top 5% of the over 1.4 million students taking the test. (Read more)

Barrack Student Participates in Cancer Research in Israel
Bryn Mawr, PA (September 12, 2008): David Carel, a senior at Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy, was selected to participate in The Legacy Heritage Internship for Young Scientists at Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel, where he participated in cancer research in the university's labs. (Read more)

Merion Station, PA (April 8, 2008): Barrack Hebrew Academy's JETS Team captured first place in the Widener University JV JETS TEAMS competition and placed first in the State of Pennsylvania. The team then learned that it was ranked third nationally in the JV division. (Read more)

New Era Begins for Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy

Founded in 1946 as the oldest pluralistic secondary Jewish community day school in North America, Akiba Hebrew Academy was officially renamed the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy on September 10, 2007. The school was renamed in memory of the older brother of Leonard Barrack, Akiba alum, class of 1960. Mr. Barrack and his wife Lynne, directors of the Barrack Foundation, presented a $5 million gift to the school that will be used in large part for scholarships, assuring that more students will benefit from a stellar Jewish day school education. Barrack Hebrew Academy will move to state-of-the are facilities on the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia's Radnor campus in the fall of 2008. (Read more)
