Elective Information for 2010-2011

It is my pleasure to notify you of the elective offerings, including the distribution requirements and methods for registering for electives, which students received in their class meetings Tuesday, May 4, at school. We ask that you review both the distribution requirements for a given grade level and the elective choices, prioritizing first, second, third, and fourth choices where necessary. It is our intention that each elective class will have an appropriate class size.  Therefore, alternative elective choices need to be ones that students feel comfortable about taking.

We will still offer our regular panoply of clubs at lunch time and will also use lunch for cross grade performance groups such as publications, chorus and band which will be introduced next year as well.

Every student should meet first with his or her advisor. Rising juniors and seniors need to meet with Mrs. Carol Jacobs, our college guidance counselor as well to make sure that their elective choices do not limit or adversely affect their college application preferences.

Final signatures will be needed from the Middle School (current 6th and 7th grade

students) or Upper School Principals (current 8th and 9th grade students) or Mrs. Vigoda, our counselor (current 10th and 11th grade students.)

This is indeed an exciting step forward for our school, and I hope you will share with us the delight we see in this wide range of elective choices that will be available to our students in the coming year. I am deeply grateful to the administration and the faculty for this incredible innovation in our school's program.

Bivracha,

Dr. Steven M. Brown

Head of School
