Jack M. Barrack Music Department

Vocal Ensembles

Music is the purest form of art... therefore true poets, they who are seers, seek to express the universe in terms of music... The singer has everything within him. The notes come out from his very life. They are not materials gathered from outside.

Music at Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy is one part academic and one part performing.  The most important role of a strong music department is one which helps develop the essential skills necessary in being part of a musical community.  The skills help develop the creativity, sensitivity, and responsibility which are beneficial to students in music as well as other subject areas.

While we are a new program here at JBHA, relationships are already being built between both the upper school and the middle school students to help create a successful musical experience for all involved.    We are currently working on a plethora of music genres and plan to explore as many options as possible to display in our spring performance.

Vocal Ensemble (Choir) is open to all students at JBHA who are available during A and B lunches.  Please bring your lunch to room 001 at the start of the lunch period.  It is imperative that all members of the ensemble are present during each rehearsal as rehearsals are limited.

We are also in the process of forming different smaller vocal groups including a blues style female group and an accapella group.

For an ensemble to be successful, all participants must be present during rehearsals and do the necessary amount of work to create beautiful music.  Thus, all students must sign and complete and return the designated contract to Dr. Orenstein prior to joining an ensemble.
