Curriculum Overview
Week of 6/7
Homework due A day 6/7- Compare and Contrast the David and Batsheva story with the Tamar and Amnon story.
Homework due 6/9 C day- The Shmuel Newspaper.
Week of 5/31
For 6/2 D day- come prepared to take the quiz and make sure that your Chapter 13 packet is completely done.
Quiz Chapters 10, 11, 12 on 6/2 D day. In addition we will be working on Newspaper presentations for Chapter 13. Presentations will be made on Thursday 6/3 E day. Details about the project will be given out on Thursday 5/27.
Week of 5/24
Homework due Thursday 5/27 : Shmuel Bet Chapter 12 handout.
On Monday we will continue our character study of David and his compassion for Ammon. We will then continue to look at David's character development through his behavior in regard to his relationship with Batsheva.
On Thursday 5/27 A day Jake Rosen will present Parshat Bahalotcha.
Week of May 17th
Homework due Friday 5/21- Thoroughly read chapter 10 of Shmuel Bet and then complete the Chapter 10 handout and submit on Friday.
On Friday 5/21 Mrs Linietsky will present a short lesson on the highlights of last week's Parsha ( Bamidbar). This will be followed by Nora Abel's presentation of the current Parsha (Naso).
Week of 5/3
Jacob Feist will present the double portion Behar/ Bechukotai on Friday.
Homework due 5/5 E day-Complete the Shmuel Bet Chapter 8 handout.
Week of 4/26
On Friday 4/30 C day Sam Zakheim will present Parashat Emor. In addition I will give out a review sheet for the upcoming quiz on Shmuel Bet Chapters 5,6, and 7.
Monday 5/3 C'- Quiz on Shmuel Bet Chapters 5,6, and 7.
Homework due Monday 4/26 F day- complete the Shmuel Bet chapter 6 handout and be prepared to participate in class.
Week of 4/8
Homework due 4/8 "A" day- come to class prepared to work on the Shmuel Bet Chapter 3- poster and skit. Don't forget to bring any material you may have printed out from the computer to help illustrate your group's pesukim.
Week of 3/22
Homework due 2/24- Choose one of the topics at the end of the Chapter 3 packet and write a paragraph about it.
Homework due for Monday- complete the Shmuel Bet Chapter 3 packet and be prepared to orally participate in class.

Quiz: Chapters 1 and 2 Shmuel Bet Wednesday 3/17 A day.
Homework due Monday 3/15 E day- Perek Bet Shmuel Bet- complete questions 9-17 in the packet and be prepared to share your answers.

Homework due Thursday 3/4 E day- Be prepared to orally contribute three additional items that you would include in David's tribute to Shaul and Yonatan based on previous text study .We will then begin chapter two of Shmuel Bet . There will be an assignment which will be due on Friday 3/5.
Week of 2/16
Wedneday 2/17- F day :Creative presentations on selected chapters of Shmuel Aleph will be presented in class.
Week of 2/8
Monday 2/8 A day- review for open note quiz on chapters 20-31of Shmuel Aleph. We will then work in pairs or groups of 3 to choose the most meaningful chapter to us personally in Shmuel Aleph from a list of selected chapters. Students will convey their chosen chapter thru a skit, artistic poster, game or power point presentation.
Thursday 2/11- D day- Parshat Mispatim presentation by Mrs. Linietsky.
Important Dates:
Tuesday February 16th E day- Open Note Quiz
Wednesday February 17th F day- Presentations on the most meaningful chapter in Shmuel Aleph.
Thursday February 18th A day- We will begin to study Shmuel Bet.
Week of 2/1
This week we will do an overview of the remaining chapters of Shmuel Aleph: chapters 20 to the end of the book. Students are responsible for taking notes and there will be an open note quiz on Thursday 2/4 E day or Monday 2/8- A day. I will be doing a note check on Tuesday 2/2 C day.
Week of 1/18
Homework due Wednesday 1/20 : write an article and illustrate it depicting the battle between David and Goliath, or write a skit depicting the battle and act it out.
Friday 1/22- Quiz: Chapters 15,16 and 17 in Shmuel Aleph.
Week of 1/11/10
Congratulations to the whole class on your creative Shmuel newspapers on Chapter 15.
This week we will begin with Chapter 16 and slowly transition from King Shaul to the newly chosen king.
Homework due 1/13: Read chapter 17 and be prepared for classroom activities pertaining to the material. Perhaps a short quiz.
Week Of 12/21
We completed our summaries of the third portion of Shmuel Aleph Chapter 14.
Students are working in groups in order to create a Newspaper based upon Shmuel Aleph Chapter 15. Each group must choose 6 out of 10 choices of types of articles. In order to complete this project successfully students need to read and outline Chapter 15. In addition they also must research the nation of Amalek and their relationship with Bnai Yisrael.
Important Dates:
1/ 5/10-C day- we will work in groups during class time.
1/6/10- D day- The completed newspaper is due to be handed in.
1/7/10-E day- Each group will present their newspaper to the class.
Homework 11/13- Utilize the handout on perek yud of Shmuel Aleph to help you write a summary in which you track the process in which Shaul was annointed as king.
Week of 12/7
On 12/8 we will review Chapter 12and begin Chapter 13
12/9 D day- Quiz on Chapters 10,11, and 12 in Shmuel Aleph
Week of 11/30
We are studying Chapter 11 of Shmuel aleph.
