Tanach 9-1

During the second trimester, we will conclude our study of the Book of Shemot (Exodus) and start our study of Vayiqra (Leviticus).  We will do an in depth look at the story of the Golden Calf in chapter 32, comparing it to the version of the story in Devarim (Deuteronomy) chapter 9, and to the story of the building of golden calves by Jeroboam in Melachim (Kings) chapter 11.  In Vayqira, we will examine the system of sacrifice in chapters 1 and 2, the death of Nadav and Abihu in chapter 15, the Yom Kippur ritual in chapter 16, and the Holiness Code in chapters 19-22.  We will continue our study of the Parasha of the Week.
