Tanach 12-2

Welcome to the second trimester of Tanach 12-2. 

We finish our study of the story of Qayin (Cain) and Hevel (Abel) and then begin the Avraham (Abraham) cycle.  We will focus on the covenant, the promise of a child, and the relationship with his wives.  In addition to rabbinic commentary, we will look at documents from the Ancient Near East, in particular, the Code of Hammurabi, to determine if Avraham was a real character and whether the stories about him are historical.  We will conclude the trimester with the story of the Aqedah (The Binding of Yitzhak). In addition, the students will continue to study the Parasha of the Week.
