Instrumental Ensemble
Music is one of the best ways to enjoy the present. It's not much fun to look forward to hearing music or to remember what a song sounded like last week, but music right now absorbs you and places you in the present moment.

Music at Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy is one part academic and one part performing. The most important role of a strong music department is one which helps develop the essential skills necessary in being part of a musical community. The skills help develop the creativity, sensitivity, and responsibility which are beneficial to students in music as well as other subject areas.
While we are a new program here at JBHA, relationships are already being built between both the upper school and the middle school students to help create a successful musical experience for all involved. We are currently working on a plethora of music genres and plan to explore as many options as possible to display in our spring performance.
The drum ensemble will take on a variety of different music genres this year including items such as our own version of "Stomp." (Special THANKS to Kirk Miller for donating the six break drums to our newly formed ensemble!)
The string ensemble is a collection of dedicated musicians working on a number of chamber works and will be steadily working toward performances in the spring.
For an ensemble to be successful, all participants must be present during rehearsals and do the necessary amount of work to create beautiful music. Thus, all students must sign and complete and return the designated contract to Dr. Orenstein prior to joining an ensemble.
