8/9 Heb VII - Literature Anthology Shurot VeShirim

This course is designed for students who have completed several years of learning Hebrew language and an introduction to literature. The student entering this class must have good oral skills in order to participate in a class conducted completely in Hebrew. The course overarching goal is the reading, comprehending and valuing of Hebrew Literature through reading an anthology geared to deal with the subject of maturation and acceptance into adult society. Values of responsibility to family and community are examined and re-enforced. The course is designed to improve independence in reading comprehension with the use of dictionaries and out of class reading (with book report assignments). Emphasis is put on written expression in essay form, to achieve fluency and coherence with enriched vocabulary.

In the third trimester we are studying a unit highlighting the role of the narrator in delivering the message . By comparing different narrators and working on telling the stories from different points of view, we will work on student's reading analysis skills and writing skills.

 

Class rules and grading policy

Book report papers where assigned for November 16th 2009 and February 8th 2010, Students will have an oral presentation of the whole reading assignment one week before each written report due date.
