2. Directions for current events For 7-1 Core, current events paragraphs will be due every C day; for 7-2, they will be due every B day. Students should write reminders in their planners! For current events day, students must locate an article on the assigned topic, read actively, highlighting the 5 Ws and other main ideas. Then, they should jot down the main ideas from memory; they may use any format, such as bullets, lists, or sentences. Next, they should reread the article and add anything to their notes that is significant. Using these notes, they should write a summary of the article, following the guidelines on page 13 of their yellow xerox. They should staple the highlighted article to their prewriting notes and summary.

Homework:
This section of my homework page contains current assignments and due dates. Please note that some assignments, such as their book report, are long-term. I will include interim deadlines to help students to plan their time. As this is a bar and bat-mitzvah year for most seventh graders, they will need to use their Barrack Planners regularly. Toward the back of the planners, students should use monthly calendars to fill in special events as well as long-term projects.
Friday, June 11: Quiz on capitalization. In addition, I will post the sixth question on the TKAM Wiki.
By Sunday night, June 13: Students must have posted a response either to question five or question six on the TKAM Wiki. They may answer both for extra credit. Students should remember to proofread before posting their paragraphs.
Monday, June 14: Quiz on apostrophes. Those students who have not yet turned in their To Kill a Mockingbird books, including highlighting and active reading notes, must do so.
By Tuesday, June 15: Students must post their final Wiki entry. They must reenter one of the six discussion questions and respond to other students' entries. In addition, all students must clean their lockers and take home all personal belongings by the end of the day.
