Dr Saundra Sterling Epstein

Updated as of 3/22/10

We have completed our units of Tehilim and Esther. We are now beginning our work with the Sifrei Hochma -- Shir HaShirim, Mishlei and Kohelet.  This will be our focus for the remainder of the year.

We are presently working on Shir HaShirim.  The paper for this unit, which is entitled "Shir HaShirim is the love story between X and Y" will be due April 16, 2010.  It is to be approximately 4 pages in length and use the elements of our study, including text, commentaries and individual analysis.

Our unit on Mishlei will be during the later half of April and completed by early May.  For this unit, the assessment will be group presentations.

The last 5 weeks or so will be occupied by our study of Kohelet.  This will represent a return to many concepts and ideas from the Tenth Grade Jewish Studies curriculum.  The major paper of the semester will be due on June 10, 2010, and will be a thematic study of the books of our study -- the Wisdom Literature.

As always, criteria for grading is as follows:

1/3 of grade is class participation in our daily lessons

1/3 of grade is the major papers

1/3 of grade is all other elements -- Chevrutah work, group presentations, assignments, tracking quizzes, etc.
